FAQ for Library Services: LIB 1010

This guide will help students with questions they might have concerning the library and its services

How do I get started in my LIB 1010 class?

  1. Go to: http://www.dixie.edu.
  2. On the left hand side, click on Canvas.
  3. Click on Canvas Login.
  4. In the white boxes, use your dmail username and password to log on to Canvas.
  5. In the Courses dropdown list, Click on Lib 1010.
  6. On the left side under Modules, click on Syllabus and read through the syllabus.
  7. Watch the Orientation Video. There are helpful hints and information on how the course works in this video.

Is there a textbook for this class?

No. There is not a textbook for this class. Everything can be found on your class web page in Canvas.  See the previous question and answer above for information to log on. Within your course on Canvas, you will find links for the following: orientation video, syllabus, calendar, and syllabus quiz. 

How do I email my instructor?

  1. Log onto Canvas.
  2. Select your Lib1010 course.
  3. In the upper right-hand corner of the page click Inbox.
  4. Click New Message or click on the compose email symbol (looks like a square with a pencil in it).
  5. Click on the "people" symbol on the right-hand side of the "To" box.
  6. Click Teachers and then check the box for All.
  7. Click on the box "This is a group converstation" box.
  8. Enter your message and click Send.

What do I do if I missed a module?

If you miss a regular quiz deadline, you will need to contact your instructor via Canvas email. 

I can’t view my test or the link won’t open.

If you cannot see the next module or quiz, check with your instructor or the course coordinators.

How do I study for the final?

  1. Fill out the Final Exam Worksheet while you are doing the modules so that you can use it as a study guide for the final.
  2. Complete PRACTICE test for the final without help or looking at any of your notes.
  3. Review your answers to see what you got wrong.
  4. Review the Final Exam Video. This video goes over all of the questions and concepts on the practice test and clarifies anything that you may not have understood.
  5. Come to a face to face Review Session in the library. (Sign up for reviews in Canvas)
  6. Ask the Reference Librarians for help and instruction for concepts that you don't understand.

Where do I take my final?

The LIB 1010 final exam is available in the testing center located in the North Plaza Building.  Please make sure that you have completed all of the modules and the practice test before attempting the final.
