 How do I put in a hanging indent?

  1. Position the insertion pointer in the paragraph you want to hang and indent.
  2. Click the Home tab on the ribbon.
  3. Under the Paragraph section, click the drop down arrow on the lower right corner of the box. Make sure you are in the Indents and Spacing tab.
  4. In the Indentation section just below special, click the drop down arrow. Click Hanging.  Click OK.

 

How do I put in tab settings?

You can use the ruler to set and remove tab stops in your Word 2010 documents.

  1. If the ruler is not currently showing on the page, click View on the ribbon and check Ruler in the Show/Hide box.
  2. To set tabs, click on the ruler where you want the tab to appear.
  3. To remove tabs, click on the tab and drag it off of the ruler.

 

You can also use the Tabs dialog box when you need to be more precise. Use these steps to use the Tabs dialog box:

  1. Click the Home tab on the ribbon.
  2. Under the Paragraph section, click the drop down arrow on the lower right corner of the box. Make sure you are in the Indents and Spacing tab.
  3. In the lower left corner of the Indents and Spacing dialog box, click the Tabs button. The Tabs dialog box will appear.
  4. Type an exact tab stop position in the Tab stop position box.
  5. Choose the type of tab stop from the Alignment area: Left, Center, Right, Decimal, or Bar.
  6. Click the Set button. After you click Set, your tab stop is placed on the list below the Tab stop position dialog box. (Numbers are rounded to the nearest tenth.)
  7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 for as many tabs as you need to set.
  8. Click OK.

 

How do I put in a header/footer?

  1. Click the Insert tab on the ribbon.
  2. Click Header or Footer in the Header & Footer section, and select the design you wish to have. If you want the first page of the document not to show the header or footer, check Different First Page.
  3. Edit the design of the header or footer. When you are finished editing the design, double click within the body of your document to return to the document.
  4. If you wish to edit a header or footer later, double click within the header or footer.

 

How do I insert page numbers?

  1. Click the Insert tab on the ribbon.
  2. Click Page Number in the Header & Footer section.
  3. Click Top of Page, Bottom of Page, Page Margins, or Current Position and choose the position from the dialog box. If you want the first page of the document not to show the page number, check Different First Page.

 

How do I change the spacing between paragraphs?

  1. Click the Page Layout tab on the ribbon.
  2. Highlight the entire document by clicking Control + A or highlight the paragraphs that you wish to change the spacing between.
  3. In the Paragraph section under Spacing click the down arrow twice next to After so that the number in the box changes to 0.
  4. If you wish to make this the default spacing, under the Paragraph section, click the drop down arrow on the lower right corner of the box. The Paragraph dialog box will appear. Click Default at the bottom of the box and then click Yes when the next dialog box appears.
